In the Center of the world economy and international relations of NAS of Ukraine, Director of the Valentin Zemlyansky said that with the launch of the pipeline "Nord stream-2" the Ukrainian GTS will cut on scrap metal.
The construction of a gas pipeline from Russia to Europe, "Nord stream-2", has been rather contradictory assessments. On the one hand are States that undoubtedly promising project will be profitable, and with other countries that wish to maintain anti-Russian sentiment in the world and to prevent the decline in economic performance caused by the construction of the pipeline. Obviously, one of such countries is Ukraine, which will lose huge amounts of money for gas transit via its territory. Therefore, trying to promote to the community the idea of "politicization" of the project.
The head of "Gazprom" Alexei Miller said that the volume of transit through Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) will decrease to 15 billion cubic meters (given that Ukraine is capable of pumping 120 billion cubic meters). Zemlyansky believes that the minimum amount of transit which will allow Ukraine to contain all the GTS and not work at a loss is 60 billion cubic meters of gas.
Ukraine earlier due to the reduction of transit capacities decommissioned about 30% of the compressors because they are simply not needed. The volume of 15 billion cubic meters will considerably aggravate the situation, and the launch of "Nord stream-2" will definitely kill the gas transportation system of the country. According to Zemlyansky, the Ukrainian GTS will just cut to scrap unnecessary.
