South Korea and China will soon move to full self-sufficiency in ferrous scrap
It is expected that by 2020 South Korea will independently provide more than 90% of its needs in the scrap, and China due to increasing steel production can already provide themselves. After 5-10 years, two major Japanese consumer scrap will no longer need it.
Japanese scrap exporters are already thinking about finding new supply routes within Southeast Asia before the situation becomes critical.
