What stands for “Made in China” today?

Dealers who sell equipment produced in EU or in USA usually blame Chinese equipment for poor quality.

Such dealers try to tar the reputation of suppliers who deal with Chinese manufacturers and present their equipment in bad light.

We meet such unfair competition every day. Many people in our country and all over the world still live with an obsolete prejudice that one cannot rely on Chinese products and Chinese brands. But care for quality of Chinese goods was relevant several decades ago. Everything is changed now.

So, what stands for “Made in China” in our time?

We are the representative of Chinese manufacturer “Jiangsu Wanshida Hydraulic Machinery Co., Ltd.”, and aside with ready machinery (balers, shears, presses, etc) we supply spare parts for machines that were sold several years ago by other dealers.

Brand “Wanshida” is very popular in Ukraine, almost 500 pieces of different machinery have been sold since 2007. So, it is a huge market for spare parts, one can admit.

If we take an old attitude to Chinese products as products with a poor quality, so it can mean that there is an immense need in spare parts for these 500 units of equipment.

But, what we can see:

For the last year we have only sold the following amount of spare parts:

  • Hydraulic pumps YCY series for balers and alligator shears – 5 pcs
  • Pressure sensor for baler – 3 pcs
  • Limit switch for alligator shear – 5 pcs
  • Set of seal rings for balers – 2 pcs
  • Knifes for alligator shears – 3 sets
  • Oil filters – 3 pcs

We must add that we are the only company in Ukraine that sells spare parts for Wanshida equipment.

So, as you can see our spare parts business does not flourish. Users of Wanshida equipment do not order spare parts. It means they satisfy with their equipment. As to me, it is my dream to buy a car and not buy spare parts every 6 months. And Wanshida can do this dream for scrap recycling yards.

Three words “Made in China” are not a guilty verdict any more. More and more people are relying on Chinese companies and Chinese products. And Chinese manufacturers pay them back, producing the machinery that can bring benefits to its users.

BALER Y83-250 IS A PERFECT SOLUTION FOR SMALL TRADERS

Several weeks ago we received an interesting enquiry from a new client from EU.

Client’s company is dealing with second-hand household equipment. She (the client actually was a business lady) sells used fridges, cookers, microwave machines, washers etc from Western and Northern Europe to Eastern Europe. She told us about her idea to compact the old fridges and sells as scrap to scrap dealers. The compacted or baled fridges take dramatically less place and save a pile of money.

We made a small experiment with old fridges and our Y83-250 baler that has pressing box 2000X1400X900 mm and pressing 250T. We specially took our large baler with large pressing chamber to put as much fridges as possible. The experiment showed excellent results: out of 6 pc of fridges it turned out a small bale (size 230X230X230) and weight of 180 kg.

The client found it very interesting! It is just what I was searching, she said.

It is first time when we work with clients who are not specialized in metal scrap sales, so it was a great challenge for us if we can offer a money saving solution. So, this time we think we succeed – because our first and main task is to assist our clients to earn money.

SIX FRIDGES IN THE PRESSING CHAMBER

Recycling of passenger vehicles

A typical passenger vehicle consists of about 65% steel and iron.

Car bodies are made usually 25% of recycled steel. Car recycling industry is a huge market now. Some experts say that today it achieves 22 billion USD and 10 million vehicles for recycling annually. And there is still a lot of space for growth.

All over the world there are many companies that deal specifically with cars recycling. Also, many car producers have their own facilities to recycle old vehicles. For example, BMW group opened its Recycling and Dismantling center in 1994.  Using advanced technology they achieved a great success – almost 90% of car is recycled and reused.

So, what stands for this outstanding process?

First, the car gets drained of all the fluids (oil, petrol, brake fluid, etc), then there is a deactivation of airbags and belt tensioners, neutralization of battery and pyrotechnic components. The fluids and some vehicle parts go to special disposal plants, while the undamaged components can be sold as spare parts. Precious metals like platinum get recycled. Engines can be reconditioned.

Then the body of the vehicle is baled in special powerful baler-shear. These bales go to shredder plant then where they are cut into small pieces. But it still not the end – after shredding there comes a sorting process where metals are separated from plastic and other non-metal parts using magnets, eddy currents or screening.

Taking into account the increasing number of vehicles as well as an extending population on Earth that can buy a car, we can assert that car recycling industry is in its golden age. We must not also forget about environmental friendliness that is the motto of our life. And car recycling is the pivotal part of this green policy. Our company – Jiangsu Wanshida Hydraulic Machinery Co., Ltd can offer you a wide range of machinery that can support your business in car recycling. Our powerful balers, baler-shears and shredders can bring you a lot of benefit

Everyone to his trade: Shredder, Baler-shear or baling press

Nowadays metal scrap is a free traded commodity that along with oil, gold, gas, silver makes additional value to its producers.

And as well as other commodities it has several types which differ in their producing process including energy consumption, automation of the process, cost of necessary equipment, purity level, etc. For the moment there are three main scrap processing procedures: Shredding, baling and shearing.

Of course we need to add that usage of processed steel scrap as a raw material instead of iron ore will bring energy savings up to 74%. And also it will decrease air pollution dramatically, some experts say – up to 86%. The physical characteristics of steel scrap have an important influence on melting, both technically and economically, and can lead to a loss of melting time, increased power and electrode consumption, a greater risk of furnace damage, excess slag production and reduced iron yield if the scrap is unsuitable. Scrap processing is, therefore, of considerable interest to steelmakers as well as the metal recycling industry.

Shredding

This process provides the scrap of best quality as per purity and size requirements. The steel mill furnaces get the best ratio of consumed energy/quality of yielded iron. Special institute’s research shows that recently proportion of scrap processing using shredders is set to increase substantially.

Shredding plants help to:

  • - Avoid or minimize the risk of damage due to overloading caused by unshreddable heavy scrap pieces
  • - Control production, scrap size and density for greater flexibility of use

Company Jiangsu Wanshida Hydraulic Machinery offers to its clients the whole series of scrap crushing and shredding machines and lines. Recently we have supplied our lines to Russian and Moldova where one can observe a high interest to such machinery.

Scrap baling presses

It is an old and confident way of recycling. Baling was popular some 30 years ago and had great prospects. But now many recyclers and foundries are trying to avoid this process, because of impossible to control the inner content of the bale. Of course recyclers with long and well-established work record still make use of balers because nobody can doubt the quality of their products.

As to our clients we can offer a rigid and confident series of hydraulic baling presses Y83 with different pressing force and working chamber. Our balers work all over Eastern Europe, China, South-East Asia, Middle East, etc.

Scrap shears

Compared with shredding and baling, scrap shears offer the most universal processing technique for different grades of scrap (see next picture). All scrap types can be processed on scrap shears, and for heavy and demolition scrap, shearing is the only suitable automatic recycling technique.

Over past decade our engineering office has designed several types of scrap recycling shears and we implemented them in life. Most of our baler-shears work in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China.

Conclusions

Modern scrap recycling plants must be capable of handling a wide range of different scrap grades economically as well as meeting the size, density and purity requirements demanded by steel mills and foundries. To support these aims advanced scrap preparation machines are available that provide favourable processing costs, high availability and good process flexibility.
