Metallurgical combine Azovstal (Mariupol, Donetsk region), part of Metinvest group, in January-June 2014 reduced the production of the total rental, according to operative data, by 17.3% compared to the same period in 2013 – up to 1,736 million tons. As the representative of the company, the steel production during this period decreased by 10.6% to 2,040 million tonnes, pig iron by 8.7%, to 1,798 million tons. The plant produced an agglomerate due to the closure of the sinter plant. In June Azovstal produced 303 thousand tons of the total rent, 342 thousand tons of steel and 292 thousand tons of iron. In July it is planned to produce 264 thousand tons of steel and 245 thousand tons of iron, which would require, in particular, to purchase 12 thousand tons of scrap metal.
As reported, Azovstal in 2013 increased the production of total rent 0.4% compared with 2012 – up to 4,186 million tons, but decreased steel – for 2.7%, to 4,468 million tons of pig iron by 4.4%, to 3,849 million tons.
