The value of the U.S. material HMS № 1&2 (80:20) was fixed at $365-368 per ton CFR, and is similar to the European scrap is quoted slightly below $365 per ton CFR.
The rise in prices, amounting to about $15 per ton compared to early June, due to increased scrap prices in the US and Europe, as well as active purchasing on the part of Turkish companies. However, to date, virtually all manufacturers have completed the process of stockpiling for the next month, so the number of new deals fell sharply. Nevertheless, providers expect that the prices will remain at current levels.
In East Asia, demand in the last two or three weeks has always been low, but that did not stop Japanese and American exporters of scrap to raise prices. At the same time, Japanese companies sought primarily to compensate for the depreciation of the yen to the dollar. Their material H2 is currently listed at around $305-315 per ton FOB, about $5 per ton more than in the beginning of this month, while in the domestic market prices decreased slightly.
American companies raised quotations on material HMS № 1&2 (80:20) supplied in containers to Taiwan, to $345 per ton CFR and more. However, most of the sales in the countries of the region account for large party scrap HMS № 1, which is sold in China and Southeast Asia.
