In his speech, the head of the region stressed the special importance for the development of this project, noting that not last role in it should play the open here mineral deposits.
"In addition to the mining sector in recent years is gaining momentum and manufacturing. Of course, we are talking about deposits and this is a medium-term perspective development of our region. A number of the fields there already exist and function is the mining of deposits, particularly gold deposits. They are now in development," said Nuraly Saduakasov, opening the meeting.
As the basis for the new mining and energy cluster in Kostanay region is a compact arrangement of several mineral deposits. It Kucharenko Deposit of brown coal, bauxite and Cottelsoe Quasadilla field of nepheline syenites. In addition, it is considered extremely convenient location of train paths that can significantly increase the economic efficiency of industrial enterprises.
"One of the major projects within this cluster the construction of the Turgay thermal power plant with installed capacity of 2 thousand megawatts on the basis of Kosarenkov deposits of brown coal. It should be noted that it has previously developed SPK Tobol" said Zanes Abisheva, President of JSC "Center of Sciences about Earth, metallurgy and enrichment".
"We have proposed the establishment of alumina production and aluminum production using the technology of electrolysis. This is a very energy-intensive technology and will require the construction of a new plant. Otherwise it may lead to power shortages in Northern Kazakhstan by 2020," said Zanes Abisheva.
