Russia has reduced production of steel by 4.4%

The volume of steel production in Russia in January-February 2013 compared to the same period in 2012 decreased by 4.4%. This is evidenced by the data of Rosstat, according to Metal Bulletin.
In particular, metal smelting in the country amounted to 11.3 million tons. By the end of February this year the steel output in Russia fell by 5.1%. In turn, production of rolled ferrous metals in Russia for two months of the year fell by 2.6% to 8.9 million tonnes. In February, the release of materials decreased by 5.8%.
As is known, the volume of steel production in Russia in January 2013 compared to January 2012 decreased by 5.8%. Metal smelting in the country for the first month of this year reached 5.7 million tonnes. The production of rolled steel in Russia decreased by 2.8% to 4.4 million tons. The production of steel pipes went up by 3.3%, to 744 thousand tons.
Earlier it was reported that the volume of steel production at the Russian metallurgical enterprises in November 2012 compared to October decreased by 3.6%. However, on an annual basis, metal smelting in the country rose 0.1%.
