The Ministry of economic development and trade (MEDT) approved the balance sheet of ferrous scrap in 2016 with a continued high level of exports of scrap metal in the amount of 1.1 million tons, almost at the level of the previous year, despite calls by the metallurgical enterprises and regional deputies to restrict the export of strategic raw materials due to its shortage on the domestic market.
According to the Department of regulation of foreign economic activities of the Ministry, the estimated balance of education and consumption of ferrous metals in the domestic market to 2016 approved by order No. 337 dated March 1, 2016.
In this case, the Department announced acceptance of documents from business entities for registration of foreign economic contracts (contracts) for export operations with scrap metal.
As have informed Agency Interfax-Ukraine the Ministry on Tuesday, in 2016 the approved volume of steel production at the level of 24.5 million tons, which is 6.5% higher than in 2015 (23 million tons).
At the same time on domestic market the planned supply of scrap metal in the amount of 3.5 million tons (76% of total procurement), up from 3.07 million tons in 2015 (71,7%).
Export approved supply volume of 1.1 million tons of scrap metal, which is slightly lower compared to year 2015 (of 1.21 million tons).
The document notes that the results of the work of metallurgical enterprises with the estimated balance for 2016 may be adjusted quarterly in accordance with the production performance of metallurgical enterprises, and other factors that affect the level of scrap collection.
In General, in 2016 it is planned to procure in Ukraine 4.6 million tons of scrap metal, while in 2015 it amounted to 4,28 million tons.
