Volunteers cleared the Bely island in the Kara sea from the waste of scrap metal. Work began July 29 and continued for 38 days. Participants collected and removed on barges of 75 tons of scrap metal. Inventoried, 75 sites received 75 "passports danger."
The island also established a chapel in memory of the sailors who perished in the Kara sea during the great Patriotic war. Volunteers had to work in severe climatic conditions. Work schedule – from 9 am to 20 hours. Volunteers rested when the work was stopped because of the storm.
Psychological challenges volunteers have established the presence of polar bears roaming nearby. However, the animals did not prevent people.
The next expedition will be launched in 2013. The participants will be engaged in garbage removal from the island, but also the reclamation of the area affected by human activities.
